I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nathan Cole travels to another dimension to rescue the Philadelphia citizens who were transported to Oblivion. With government support dwindling down, he becomes desperate in his search for more survivors in this dangerous apocalyptic environment.

The premise is very interesting and raises a lot of questions. Kirkman really knows when to pull and when to push information. For the first volume, the characters are an interesting bunch even though they are not fleshed out yet. The artwork is full of saturated colors and Felici has a unique way of using shadows in the illustrations to help capture tone.

Nathan Cole as the main protagonist is an interesting man. There is a reason why he is so desperate to keep this government program of his going, even if he is the only one who enters into the dangerous threshold that is Oblivion. I can’t help but wonder how everything will play out; especially, after that cliffhanger of an ending.
